CJTF-HOA, Camp Lemonnier visit South Korean military vessel
The African Union Mission in Somalia’s capabilities to provide security in Somalia were recently strengthened when U.S. military members of U.S. Africa Command and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa delivered nearly 20 vehicles and two storage containers to the Uganda People’s Defence Force here, Sept. 25.

U.S. military and Department of State representatives assembled at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, for the annual East Africa Security Synchronization Conference to synchronize and prioritize activities in East Africa.
Our area of responsibility is huge - about half the size of the continental U.S.! The CJTF-HOA Religious Affairs team invited other military religious leaders from U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Army Africa, and Air Forces Africa to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, to discuss the challenges and opportunities regarding providing support throughout East Africa.
U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Miguel Castellanos, deputy commanding general for CJTF-HOA in Somalia and Mogadishu Coordination Cell director was the senior U.S. military hosted an Iftar at the Mogadishu International Airport for U.S. personnel from AFRICOM, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), the Mogadishu Coordination Cell, as well as Somali National Army leaders. This was the first time a U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Imam led an Iftar.
