The African Union Mission in Somalia’s capabilities to provide security in Somalia were recently strengthened when U.S. military members of U.S. Africa Command and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa delivered nearly 20 vehicles and two storage containers to the Uganda People’s Defence Force here, Sept. 25.

AFRICOM Command Sgt. Maj. visits CJTF-HOA

Army Command Sgt. Maj. Darrin Bohn, senior enlisted leader for U.S. Africa Command, made his first official visit to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, this week. U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bonnie Skinner, CJTF-HOA senior enlisted leader, hosted Bohn during his site visit which included touring CJTF-HOA facilities, mission briefings and meetings with HOA enlisted personnel and commanders.

"These types of visits are important so we can get the pulse of service members," Bohn said

New U.S. AFRICOM Commander Visits Djibouti in First Trip to Africa

Gen. David M. Rodriguez, commander of U.S. Africa Command, visited Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, April 16-18, as part of his first trip to Africa less than 2 weeks after taking command.

Rodriguez, who took command of U.S. AFRICOM April 5, met with deployed troops and presided over the assumption of command ceremony for Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Terry R. Ferrell assumed command of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa during a ceremony here presided by the U.S. Africa Command commander April 18, 2013.
