DISCOVER AND HELP NATURE REFUGE, Djibouti (Oct. 2, 2011) - U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Desiree Dukes, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, information systems technician, rakes an area at the Discover and Help Nature Refuge October 2. The area being cleared is slated to be turned into a lion habitat. Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa and Camp Lemonnier service members volunteered during their off-duty time to help with the project. The refuge houses cheetahs, ostriches, lynx, tortoises, gazelles and many other animals. CJTF-HOA defense liaison officer earns European Union Medal

A U.S. Army major assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa earned the Common Security and Defence Policy Service Medal for Planning and Support from the European Union Feb. 23, 2019. Maj. Aaron Testa, who serves as the defense liaison officer to the U.S. Embassy in Bangui, Central African Republic, received the medal from Portuguese Maj. Gen. Hermínio Maio, mission force commander of the European Union Training Mission-Central African Republic, during a ceremony in Bangui.
