The ministerial-level meeting produced a new agreement outlining the cross-exchange of logistics, services, supplies, and support between the nations, as well as a plan for future security cooperation activities designed to meet mutual defense priorities.

A graduation ceremony honored 34 members of Camp Lemonnier and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as they graduated from a Joint Corporals Leadership Development Course March 11, 2016, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The course, developed by the Marine Corps University, places significant emphasis on developing leadership to prepare junior enlisted Marines for their transition from subordinates to small unit leaders.

CJTF-HOA Civil Affairs Soldiers provide dental support

Civil affairs Soldiers assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa completed a dental civic action program in Arta, Djibouti. The civil affairs team treated more than 40 patients during two days in the Arta region and extracted more than 50 teeth. During the month of February, the civil affairs team has also provided dental support in the Dikhil and Ali Sabieh regions, and plans to visit an additional region in the future.

EOD provides training, finds friendship and partnership in Tanzania

Members of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 1, assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, recently wrapped up a 25-day Humanitarian Mine Action Level 1 training class hosted by the Tanzania People's Defense Force in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Consisting of two U.S. Navy EOD technicians and a corpsman, the mobile team instructed a class of 20 TPDF soldiers in topics such as ordnance disposal, knot tying, emergency medical care, and weapons identification.
