Civil Affairs, Djiboutian medical personnel provide specialty care

Access to proper health care is often a challenge for pastoralists, villagers, and people living in low-income areas due to the time, cost, and distance to urban medical facilities. Specialty medical care however, is even tougher to attain for those in need. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa service members recently helped address this need by partnering with Djiboutian medical personnel to deliver specialty health care to more than 400 Djiboutians.

82nd ERQS demonstrates USAF combat rescue tactics with Kenya Defense Forces

Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa service members conduct a combat rescue demonstration for Kenyan Defense Forces officers to supplement a weeklong, personnel recovery engagement course. During the weeklong course, CJTF-HOA shared combat training rescue knowledge, public realtions, and basic survival evasion resistance and escape skills.

Marines from 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived ashore at Arta Beach, Djibouti, July 20, 2015, for two weeks of sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.

Members of the 1/77th Armor Regiment, assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, conduct range training in Arta, Djibouti, July 8, 2015. The service members, who recently arrived at Camp Lemonnier, were required to qualify on two small-arms weapon systems: the M4 rifle and the M9 pistol. U.S. Army soldiers regularly practice the fundamentals of shooting, as it is an important skill to the success of any mission they are conducting.
