U.S. Air Force Command Chief Benjamin Higginbotham, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn Of Africa Command Senior Enlisted Leader, participates in the Bataan Death March Memorial every year in White Sands, N.M. Due to his deployment with CJTF-HOA at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa, he is unable to make it to the memorial in 2018. However, Chief refuses to give up on his pledge to honor the memory of Cpl. William H. Coffield Jr., who died during captivity, and Pfc. Francis M. Bania, who survived the march and three and a half years of captivity. The chief will be completing the march at Camp Lemonnier the same day as those participating in New Mexico.
