Members of U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa assist members of the Djiboutian Armed Forces during the construction of modular shelter systems in and around Djibouti City, Feb. 27, 2017. Baker Assumes Command of CJTF-HOA

U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Rob Baker assumed command of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa here May 26.

Baker, who comes to CJTF-HOA after having served at the Pentagon as Director for Joint Force Development, Joint Staff, relieved U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Michael Franken. U.S. Army Gen. Carter F. Ham, U.S. Africa Command commander, presided over the ceremony.

AFRICOM Commander Visits Camp Lemonnier

U.S. Army General William "Kip" Ward, commander, U.S. Africa Command, visited Camp Lemonnier, January 26, 2010, to send off the outgoing U.S. Navy core staff and speak with the 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army National Guard.

"I wanted to come and show my appreciation to the departing staff," said Ward. "They've done exceptional work in moving ahead the mission of the task force, as well as combating (violent extremism) in this part of the region."

CJTF-HOA Conducts Peace Operations Course in Kenya
