U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Ensures Weapon Is Clear For Shift Change
U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Sal Gandara, Coastal Riverine Squadron One-Forward (CRS1-FWD) boatswain mate, ensures a weapon is clear in preparation for shift change after providing static security for a United States Ship in the Port of Djibouti. The CRS1-FWD, commanded by U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Alan Tubbs, provides port and harbor security, protects high value assets and performs maritime security operations off the coast of Djibouti. Tubbs is currently the only Coast Guardsman commanding a U.S. Navy unit.
