"If you wear a U.S. military uniform long enough, it's not about if but when you will perform support for a humanitarian operation," said Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. William Zana. Nearly 100 CJTF-HOA and Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, service members completed a Joint Humanitarian Operations Course conducted by the U.S. Agency for International Development last week, better equipping them for humanitarian operations.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited with CJTF-HOA personnel on his stop in Djibouti, as part of his tour through Africa. Secretary Tillerson traveled to Djibouti to discuss the U.S.-Djiboutian partnership, and exchanged views on bilateral concerns, security threats, and economic reforms. Five U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 404th Civil Affairs (CA) Company, 407th CA Battalion, attached to the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), are currently forward deployed to Camp Singo, Uganda, to advise and assist in the training of the first tactical Civil Affairs Company within the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).
