At the request of the Federal Government of Somalia and in coordination with the U.S. Mission to Somalia and U.S. Africa Command, a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft departed from the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) here, loaded with medical and recovery supplies in response to the terrorist attacks that killed and injured hundreds in Mogadishu on October 14.

U.S. Airmen from the 449th Air Expeditionary Group load pallets of medical and humanitarian aid supplies onto a U.S. C-130J Super Hercules at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Oct. 17, 2017. The aid is being delivered to the Somali people following a devastating terrorist attack that killed and injured hundreds in Mogadishu on Oct. 14. Working with the Federal Government of Somalia, the U.S. Mission to Somalia immediately arranged for the air shipment. On a Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa mission, the C-130 carried several pallets of medical equipment and supplies. The United States will continue to stand with the Somali government, its people, and international allies to combat terrorism and support efforts to achieve peace, security and prosperity. The U.S. Marine Corps is arguably one of the most revered institutions within the U.S. Department of Defense. So, when Combined Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) leadership recently welcomed members of the Djibouti Armed Forces (FAD) into the U.S. Marine Corps Corporals Course, it was a distinct honor.

U.S., Japanese, French, Italian militaries partner for first multilateral NEO exercise in Africa

Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa hosted a noncombatant evacuation operation (NEO) exercise to share best practices with the Japanese military located in Djibouti, Africa, Sept. 27 - 19, 2017. The exercise included military representation from French and Italian partner nations. During the mulit-day event, CJTF-HOA conducted table-top exercises, a combat lifesaver course and force protection discussion along with the NEO on Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Africa.

Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa , along with members of the French and Italian militaries, conducted the first multilateral noncombatant evacuation operation exercise and training for the Japan at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa, Sept. 29, 2017. Along with participating in the loading of a Japanese light armored vehicle into a C-130 Hercules aircraft, participatns were involved in breakout sessions that included convoy and force protection procedure; seld-aid and buddy care; capabilities and assest assessments.
