Seabees of CJTF-HOA keep the mission moving with tools of the trade

The U.S. Navy's Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE help keep Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, and the local East African community progressing through their specialized skills.

Members of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE deployed with the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), uses their specialized construction-based skillsets to help create a stable and secure environment in East Africa and for members at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The U.S. Navy is one of multiple military and civilian entities with CJTF-HOA that directs its resources toward helping develop a stable East Africa.

I joined the U.S. Army at 18 years old, straight out of high school. In fact, I enlisted while I was still a senior. My decision was driven by more than a sense of duty — it was deeply personal. Fast forward to today, I am proudly serving my country overseas with the Arizona Army National Guard. I am in an administrative role for the Transportation Motor Pool unit, which is in charge of managing a large fleet of vehicles, most of which are sourced from local Djiboutian contractors.
