FDCC tryouts begin at CLDJ

On Jan. 22, 2025, participants from CJTF-HOA and Camp Lemonnier participated in the French Desert Commando Course tryouts. They performed a variety of exercises including a 2.5 mile run, rope climb, push-ups, pull-ups, swimming, and many more to be selected to represent the U.S. in the competition that occurs later in the year.

For years, French Armed Forces in Djibouti have invited U.S. service members from Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa to participate in the French Desert Commando Course competition that occurs later this year. 

On Jan. 22, 2025, participants from CJTF-HOA and Camp Lemonnier had to perform a variety of exercises including a 2.5 mile run, rope climb, push-ups, pull-ups, swimming, and many more to be selected to represent the U.S. in the competition that tests the limits of physical and mental toughness.

Humans of HOA: From pulpit to battlefield
The air was heavy that day - not just from the summer heat, but from the weight of loss that clung to everyone in the room. Families sat close together, shoulders brushing, as if physical proximity could offer some small measure of comfort. Outside the chapel, the faint hum of military vehicles was a distant reminder of the larger conflict at hand. Inside, however, time felt suspended. It was just us, the grieving, and the silence.
