Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa Image

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Exercise participants from the Somali Police Force Maritime Police Unit collect a mock hostile boat and its crew during a maritime exercise demonstration of the unit’s new vessels, Aug. 25, 2016, in Mogadishu, Somalia. Representatives from approximately seven countries who assist in improving security and stability in Somalia attended the exercise demonstration and briefing from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime mentors on maritime and custodial work in Somalia. Lapse In Appropriations
The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
