USS Bataan and 24th MEU conduct training in Horn of Africa
Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct an exercise on the east coast of Africa from the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) July 9, 2017. Marines with the 24th MEU conduct annual training while deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group to stay mission ready and maintain Marine Corps standards. Bataan and its ARG are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
