Members of CJTF-HOA Strive for Gold During German Military Challenge in Djibouti

U.S. service members assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa complete a weapons qualification test as part of the competition to earn the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB), a decoration of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, at the Djiboutian National Police firing range in Djibouti City, Djibouti, Nov. 29, 2017. Competitors must complete a physical fitness test, uniformed swim, weapons qualification, ruck march, first aid course and chemical warfare course to be awarded the GAFPB, one of the few foreign allied military awards that U.S. service members are authorized to wear. Lapse In Appropriations
The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
