CJTF-HOA shares radio equipment knowledge with Djiboutian military partners

Members of the Armed Forces of Djibouti signal communications section set up and test long-range radio capabilities using high frequency (HF) radios during a knowledge exchange with the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa communications directorate, CJ-6, in Djibouti, Feb. 20 - Mar. 2, 2023. HF radios are broad, long range radios that provide a wider communication range, whereas the handheld radios are a shorter distance radio and work in conjunction with manpack radios for maximum communication efficiency. I joined the U.S. Army at 18 years old, straight out of high school. In fact, I enlisted while I was still a senior. My decision was driven by more than a sense of duty — it was deeply personal. Fast forward to today, I am proudly serving my country overseas with the Arizona Army National Guard. I am in an administrative role for the Transportation Motor Pool unit, which is in charge of managing a large fleet of vehicles, most of which are sourced from local Djiboutian contractors.
