CJTF-HOA JAG trains BIR soldiers

U.S Navy Lt. Cmdr. Alison Hoyt, chief of operational law, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), briefs Soldiers from the Armed Forces of Djibouti (FAD) Bataillon d'intervention rapide (BIR), on Rules of Engagement and Law of War Issues at the BIR base, Oct. 21, 2020. The BIR is a FAD advanced infantry battalion, trained and equipped by CJTF-HOA. Its primary mission is to train and serve as a quick reaction force to accomplish specified tasks directed by its higher command in the Djiboutian army. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Dana J. Medical personnel from the Djiboutian Armed Forces (FAD), Gendarmerie, the Battalion Intervention Rapide (BIR) and Djiboutian Coast Guard participated in the Fundamentals of Global Health Engagement (FOGHE) course. The course was sponsored by AFRICOM's Office of the Surgeon and hosted by SETAF-AF Civil Affairs Battalion, Functional Specialty Team (FxSP) in collaboration with Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) from February 24-28, 2025, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.
