As Al-Shabaab continues using brutal measures in recruiting and combatant activities in East Africa, healthy U.S. personnel are critical in CJTF-HOA commander Brig. Gen. David J. Furness’s primary objective of organizing efforts against Somalia’s leading VEO. With CJTF-HOA’s interest in readying the Somali National Army, maintaining the physical wellbeing of U.S. and partner nations’ personnel is crucial.

The bell tolls between the names of the fallen as Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1) of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) Djibouti, are holding a Wreath Laying Memorial Service, May 2, 2017, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The ceremony is honoring seven Navy Seabees who gave their lives while serving NMCB-14 during Operation Iraqi Freedom on May 2, 2004. The U.S. Navy's assistant command fitness leaders at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, used tenacity and resolve to solve a shirt situation with the help of the professional military associations here.

Sonntag during a change of command ceremony yesterday, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. U.S. Africa Command Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, presided over the ceremony.
